Upper Cascades Waterfall, Hanging Rock State Park

It could hardly be easier to see this pretty waterfall at Hanging Rock State Park. The trail to the Upper Cascades Falls is a 0.2-mile walk on crushed rock, which begins on the 0.1-mile, paved Rock Garden Trail just off of the parking lot and leads to a long bridge/overlook.

The overlook has multiple levels where you can see the falls, and allows access to the area below.

From farther back on the overlook …

From the closer end of the overlook:

And it’s easy to get to the foot of the falls.

For those who are more adventurous, there’s additional opportunity to climb and play along Cascade Creek.

Be sure to see our main Hanging Rock State Park page and pages about Hanging Rock’s other waterfalls and two primary hikes:

Hanging Rock is in Danbury, north of Winston-Salem in Stokes County off of N.C. 66 and N.C. 8 / 89.
