Corp of Engineers Reservoir Camping in North Carolina

The Corps of Engineers’  1,475-acre W. Kerr Scott Reservoir outside of Wilkesboro, N.C.,  offers some 200 campsites at three family-style campgrounds. Get more information about them below.

Jordan Lake and Falls Lake near Raleigh and Durham are also Corps of Engineers projects. The N.C. State Parks system operates five campgrounds at Jordan Lake with more than 1,000 sites for RVs and tents, and four campgrounds at Falls Lake that have more than 300 sites.

– Bandits Roost (Map). April 1-October 30. 102 sites; 85 with water and electricity, 17 tent sites without. One group site with water and electricity; up to 50 people, six vehicles. Flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, dump station, boat ramp. Reservations (at link above) required at least two days in advance. $18 for tents (no electricity, water), $24 for RVs (hookups), $85 group site. (336) 921-3190.

– Fort Hamby Park (Map). April 15-October 14. 33 sites with water and electricity, including one group camp area without. 100-amp service, hot showers, playground, swim beach, launch ramp. Reservations (at link above) required at least two days in advance. $24, $125 group site. (336)-973-0104.

– Warrior Creek (Map). April 15-October 14. 61 sites with water and electricity. Two group sites; up to 50 people, 11 vehicles.
