The Arrowhead Campground in the Uwharrie National Forest has been closed in an emergency caused by a lightning strike that damaged the well-house pump, the National Forest Service says. The bathhouse, dump station and all water hydrants are not working because the pump is broken.

All reservations between August 15 and 22 have been cancelled and customers will receive a refund. No walk-up campers will be allowed during this closure.

Arrowhead is a 50-site family campground. Badin Lake Campground, with 34 sites, is the forest’s other family-style campground. Group and primitive camping are available at six other sites, and there are two horse campgrounds in the Uwharrie.
